What's your opinion about the Daily Press's downplaying of the news that Fort Monroe has been listed as "most endangered"?

Submitted to the Daily Press's "Feedback" on Friday, May 25, 2007:
I respectfully protest the Daily Press's handling -- I myself would say "burying" -- of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities' listing of Fort Monroe as one of Virginia's eleven most endangered historic places. You reported it in a brief blurb on page 3 of the local section. It's your newspaper and your call, but I believe that in an open, impartial civic forum, you could not justify to fellow citizens your scanting of this important news.

Appearing in the Feedback column the next day:
Steve C., Poquoson: I respectfully protest the Daily Press's handling - I would say "burying" - of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities' listing of Fort Monroe as one of Virginia's 11 most endangered historic places. You reported it in a brief blurb on page 3 of the Local section. [[The newspaper omitted the third sentence here.]]
Editor: We reported on the front page just a couple of months ago that a D.C.-based Civil War preservation group put Fort Monroe on its endangered list. This seemed like an echo of that story - certainly worth being in the paper, but not shouting news, except to advocates who see it as buttressing their cause.
