Two more members named to Fort Monroe panel

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine appointed two members Wednesday to the Fort Monroe Federal Area Development Authority.
The 18 -member body was created by the General Assembly this year to oversee planning for the reuse of Fort Monroe, which the Army will vacate in 2011.
Kaine appointed Catharine S. Gilliam, an expert in historic preservation who serves in the National Parks Conservation Association. The second appointee is Rex M. Ellis, an expert in heritage tourism and a vice president with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Also serving will be three legislators from the Peninsula - state Sen. Mamie Locke, state Sen. Marty Williams and Del. Tom Gear - as well as five of the governor's Cabinet members. The city of Hampton appointed seven citizen members.
The one remaining spot hasn't been filled.
The board's first meeting will be held at 1 p.m. May 21 in room 206 of the Army Community Services Building at Fort Monroe.
The meeting is open to the public.
